M/V OCEAN ANG Managed by Huayang to Receive 2021 IMO Award

According to the official website of Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China, International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council, 125th session approved the recommendation list of the 2021 IMO Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea. The members of the diving rescue team of Guangzhou Rescue Base, Nan Hai Rescue Bureau, nominated by China, received the 2021 IMO Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea. M/V OCEAN ANG involved in the rescue operation of migrants in the Aegean Sea on the 25th of August 2020 was received the Special recognition for merchant vessels and their crew involved in the rescue of mixed migrants at sea. 

At 1650 Lt on on the 25th of August 2020, the crew members of M/V OCEAN ANG involved in the Search and Rescue operation, which resulted in the rescue of 41 seafarers from yacht SEA POWER that was in distress, 21 nautical miles West of Chalki Island in the Aegean Sea. This action is consistent with the principles of humanism and solidarity, proving their strong commitment to the long lasting values of seamanship. They are commended for their display of bravery, professionalism and compassion,upholding the highest traditions of the sea.

The international community and all walks of life have highly praised and affirmed this rescue operation. M/V OCEAN ANG received Letters of Appreciation from Hellenic Coast Guard Commandant, the Hong Kong Marine Department (M/V OCEAN ANG/Hong Kong flag) and IMO. In addition, the shipowner of M/V OCEAN ANG-Minsheng Blueocean Leasing Corporation Ltd.and charter also express their sincere gratitude for the invaluable contribution and assistance offered by the crew members.

The recognition by IMO reaffirmed our marine professionalism and commitment to ensuring safety of lives at sea.
